Embroidery

Embroidery is an artisanal technique where your logo is sewn directly onto the item.

This technique is possible on all kinds of clothing and has a number of advantages: this personalization creates a volume effect and embroidered clothing can be washed at a higher temperature than printed clothing. Since your logo is sewn directly onto the article, there is no loss of quality.

Embroidery is more labour-intensive and implies a slightly longer delivery time, but gives a professional and qualitative look to the textile piece. The design or logo is pre-translated into an embroidery program, with costs depending on the dimensions and number of stitches.

Logo embroidery

To embroider logos, we first need to create an embroidery program from the logo. The process takes place in two steps: first your logo is digitalised and converted into programming language for the embroidery machine. This is a laborious and very precise job that determines the final quality of the embroidery, but once this conversion is done you can continue to use them for reorders; it is a one-time cost. Once this conversion has been completed, your logo will be applied to the pieces to be embroidered. You can then also use this program for other orders later.

Do's & Dont's

Embroidery can be applied to almost any fabric. However, there are some exceptions that depend on several factors together. That is why we look at each project separately and advise you on the best options to get as close as possible to the desired result.
The points below summarize the most important rules:
  • Text that is too small gives a disorderly result. The minimum height of text is 5mm high.
  • Very delicate/fine fabrics (such as silk) are very difficult to embroider. There is a good chance that the embroidery machine will make holes in it.
  • If you embroider on (chest) pockets, it should be taken into account that these are embroidered closely.
  • It is not possible to embroider over zippers.
  • The maximum (landscape) field to be embroidered is 30 cm x 20 cm.
  • The other embroidery frames (maximum sizes) are:
    • 6 cm x 4 cm
    • 10 cm x 10 cm
    • 16 cm x 13 cm

Delivery of files

The most common file format is a vectorized file of your logo (usually created in illustrator). If you do not have this, there is no additional cost for embroidery!
Files for illustrator (logos, texts, drawings): .ai, .eps (saved from vectorized file), .pdf (saved from vectorized file)
Files for photoshop (for embroidery to be drawn): .tiff, .jpg, .pdf, .psd, .eps, ..

Delivery of colors:
Most logos have colors specific to the company. These are mainly classified in the PANTONE system (or PMS "Pantone Matching System"). Another option is the color's CMYK values (%Cyan, %Magenta, %Yellow, %K= Black). When embroidering we have a sample card of the different colors of thread. In order to approximate the color as closely as possible to the color of your logo/text, it is recommended to determine the color with one of our sales staff on the basis of the yarn color chart.
