WHAT IS GORE-TEX®

GORE-TEX® is a material that provides protection against different weather conditions by means of a waterproof membrane. The GORE-TEX® membrane is waterproof, breathable and ventilating. This increases the service life of shoes and workwear. The membrane's impermeability prevents moisture from penetrating the shoe and clothing. The membrane consists of more than 1.4 billion microscopically small pores that are nevertheless larger than a water vapour molecule. This makes the outside of the shoe and clothing absolutely waterproof. In addition, the breathable function ensures good temperature regulation therefore feet are protected even on hot days. The comfortable fit provides comfort and protection all day long. GORE-TEX is very commonly used in garments, including jackets and trousers, as well as shoes.

HOE WERKT HET GORE-TEX® MEMBRAAN?

WATER FROM OUTSIDE

When rain or snow comes into contact with the GORE-TEX membrane, moisture is held back by the outer layer of the membrane.

MICROPORIAL

The GORE-TEX membrane contains numerous microscopic pores that allow aterammolecules to pass through, but not water droplets. As a result, water cannot penetrate the membrane, but the membrane is breathable.

WATERDAMP

Our bodies naturally produce sweat and heat, so water vapour is produced inside the shoe. The micropores let this water vapour back out through the membrane. As a result, feet do not overheat.
